Our Story.
Public House (noun): People visit pubs to eat lunch, to drink beer and to enjoy good times with friends and family. Pub is a shortened form of public house that dates from 1859. In the sixteenth century, a public house was first “any building open to the public,” and then “an inn that sells food and drink.” Today, a public house is much more – it’s a pillar of the community.

My family has been rooted in Havre my entire life. 7 years ago I was lucky enough to meet the love of my life while visiting family and have called Havre home since 2013.
Havre has it! We often enjoy the outdoor activities that Montana’s Hi-line has to offer. We feel so welcomed into the Havre community by including our kids in all kinds of sports and activities. Four kids keep us busy but Havre famers markets, fishing and other community events keep us involved and able to enjoy our inspiring residents. Often we are able to see how the Hi-line is able to come together and support one another, it is so inspiring and a huge reason why Havre is so special to my family.
Opening 40 Below Public House was inspired by our amazing community. We aim to create a space for everyone. From the fireplace seating to large party seating. We would like to make space for all community members to enjoy our diverse food menu and specialty cocktail menu. My favorite area is the buddy bar seating where I enjoy the spinach artichoke dip to share with my friends and watch the game and a Caesar from our specialty cocktail menu.

Kitchen Manager
Summer Stilger, born and raised in Havre. Married to Gary Moore, I has a son Alex (23), and 2 daughters, Miah (8) and Matilynn (4). Summer graduated from Havre High in 1996, and MSU-Northern with a bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion in 2005.
I have experience in the bar and restaurant business as I co-managed 15 West Bar and Eatery for 13 years. In 2006 I became the manager of Physical Therapy Down Under and Fitness Center.
I would say I was drawn to 40 Below #1 it was time for a change, and #2 my past experience in the industry. I have always loved working in the public, I enjoy working in customer service and have a passion for food and cooking. I enjoy making people happy and a fun environment and good food and drinks will do that.
Our famous 40 Sauce is made fresh, it contains mayo, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, tobacco, pickles, and banana peppers, it is served with our handmade beer battered pickle dippers as well as our 40 Below Burger. My favorite thing to make on the menu is probably the Tutto Tots, tots topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage, banana peppers, and fresh basil.
Havre is a very close-knit community. It is important to keep our small town thriving with new business and places that are family and kid friendly, I feel that 40 Below is perfect for this. I also have experience with bar catering, cooking for large dinner parties, and outdoor events. 40 Below has such a great vibe the moment you walk in the door. My co-workers have become family and this is what I want to continue to create in a positive uplifting work environment. We should all enjoy going to work no matter what it is that we are doing. I am proud and honored to be part of the 40 Below Team. I am looking forward to serving Havre, the Hi-Line and all visitors who pass through.
